    Hi Pierre,

    First I would like to apologize in advance for bothering you. I have been doing a few Google searches on the error and Windows 8.1 with Bing.

    Everything I can find on Windows 8.1 with Bing is that it is regular Windows 8.1 with Bing as the default search engine when installed making the licensing free for the manufacturer of the mini pc.

    The reasons for the error that keep showing up in my Google searches are:
    1. The speech platform runtime is installed, but the language pack(s) is not installed.
    2. The speech platform and language pack are installed, but the .net application is compiled as a target platform different from the speech platform. For example, speech platform is x64, but the app is x86.
    3. There is a problem with application’s security settings.

    I have confirmed the language packs are installed and have run Gazespeaker as administrator. Other than that I have found the following information. The third link is the only one that seems to be a little different than the vast majority of things I can fine. I have included a couple of quotes below that link. None of them makes any sense to me because it runs on my work computer properly (Windows 7 Professional).

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7021200/no-voice-installed-on-the-system-or-none-available-with-the-current-security-setindicated

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1691306/strange-problem-with-system-speech-speech-synthesizer

    “…PlatformNotSupportedException error …” “The working program was referring to System.Speech, while the non-working program was referring to Microsoft.Speech. They had completely different references! I already diffed the .csproj files looking for security differences and missed the different references entirely”

    I only understand small bits and pieces of this information and don’t know if any of it will help. Please let me know if this isn’t very useful for you and I will try and keep my Google searches to myself. I again thank you for your effort with this program.

    I saw the error and reran the installer as Administrator. After it completed I started Gazespeaker. The above is from the log file after starting the program. The errors are exactly the same as earlier in the log file (before I ran the installer as Administrator). Thanks again, Carl

    Hi again, all of the modules are version 11.0.7400.335. One line of Speech Platform Runtime (x86), 7 lines of Recognition Language (DE,GB,ES,FR,JP,PT,RU) and 7 lines of Text to Speech Voice (DE,GB,ES,FR,JP,PT,RU). It all looks good, but no languages. I installed on my work computer (Windows 7) and the voices show up properly. Could it be something else I have installed on the computer? I have the following items installed besides the operating system, Gazespeaker and Microsoft Speech:
    Classic Shell
    Google Chrome
    K-Lite Codec Pack
    Kodi
    Microsoft Silverlight
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.17
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.6161
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable
    Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x86)
    Mozilla Firefox
    Mozilla Maintenance Service

    By the way, I want to thank you for everything you have done with this program. My wife is 58 and has stage 5 Parkinson’s Disease. She can’t use her hands or really move at all and her speech is unintelligible making it impossible for her to communicate. With this program and a Tobii EyeX we have hope she will again be able to communicate with our kids and me. Thanks again for helping people like my wife. Carl

    I do know that all the modules are version 11.0.7400.335, but I am unsure as to the programs themselves. I will check again, as soon as I get home tonight. Thanks, Carl

    Hi Pierre,

    Also thought it might be leftover remnants from the older install. Do you think I should try to clean up the registry? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pierre,
    I uninstalled all the components of the program, including the MS speech components and languages. I then reinstalled 1.5.1 but the voices box is still empty, no matter what language I select. Is there a chance it could be connected to the version of Windows I am running? This is effectively a “tablet” version of Windows 8.1 that is running on an Atom based mini pc. The Micrsoft speech components install in C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Speech and Gazespeaker installs in C:\Program Files\Gazespeaker. Thanks again for your help, Carl

    I have the same issue. The installed programs are the correct versions but the voices box is empty. Same no matter what language I select. I have reinstalled, after a complete uninstall. Same result. Any ideas on what the issue might be. The system is running windows 8.1 with Bing.
